Overview
Now serves as the Founding and Lead Pastor at Cheverly Baptist Church, where he passionately preaches God’s word and leads the church in carrying out its mission. He formed and developed a core team for CBC in the Fall of 2017, while on staff at Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington D.C., with the vision of planting a gospel-centered church in an ethnically and economically diverse area.
Cheverly Baptist formally launched their first service in February 2018, and John earned recognition as a tier-4 church planting multiplier by the North American Mission Board. John also worked to establish a college ministry with the University of Maryland, and alongside preaching each week, he leads Sunday services, bi-monthly members’ meetings, inductive Bible studies and discipleship groups.John served as Assistant Pastor at Capitol Hill Baptist from June 2016 to January 2018, managing a 900-member congregation through teaching, counseling, leading Sunday services and helping to execute the mission of the church.
Before this, as a Pastoral Assistant between June 2014 and January 2016, he managed the Senior Pastor’s schedule, engagements, and began his preaching ministry. His pastoral journey commenced as an intern in January 2014, where he delved into extensive reading and writing on pastoral ministry, laying a solid foundation for his subsequent pastoral roles.John is married to the love of his life, Leia, and has four incredible children: Jack, Knox, Grace, and Caroline.
